Enhancing Photovoltaic Efficiency with OMEGA Silicon.

Silicon drives the solar energy industry. But bare silicon can only capture 1/3 of the sun’s energy. We will overcome this limit using organic multiple exciton generation in silicon - OMEGA Silicon

OMEGA Silicon

OMEGA Silicon - Organic Multi Exciton Generation in Silicon - uses organic molecular coatings to improve the capture of solar energy and enhance the efficiency of silicon photovoltaics.

We are moving OMEGA Silicon from the lab to the production line.

Our Team

Our team includes experts in the physics of multi exciton generation, the synthesis of molecular materials in which it occurs, integration and testing of new materials in commercial PV architectures, PV fabrication, and reliability testing.

The Project

Our project will address a range of challenges which must be overcome to move OMEGA technology from the lab to the prodution line. Topics which will be addressed include

  • Device Integration

  • Module Integration, Testing and Efficiency

  • Optical Design and Light Trapping

  • Organic - Inorganic Interface Engineering

  • Photochemistry and New Materials

  • Technoeconomic Analysis and Roadmap
